Even if individual physical elements are separated in space and time, or are moved by people, when a continuity or order is formed among the physical or informational elements in the whole or a part of the artwork, the work will be recognized as a single entity that transcends the spatiotemporal dispersion and variability of the elements.
At that moment, the position of the elements is no longer fixed and they are free to move, and while the artwork exists physically, it simultaneously becomes a space where people's bodies are free.

"teamLabBall" is an interactive interface that changes color and brightness and emits different sounds depending on the actions of the people around it.When you touch the spheres, it causes effects such as a change in color, or the generation of a sound. Each sphere is synchronized by wireless P2P (Peer to Peer), so it is possible to change the colors of all of the spheres or to change the color of the lighting of the space. Furthermore, it is possible for directors/designers to change the colors remotely without touching the spheres. Anybody present can take part in the design of the space by tossing the floating spheres. The moment you toss the sphere, you take center stage and that moment is shared by everyone in the space.Utilizing all teamLabBalls as a common interface allows the creation of a digital space where people can get immersed and feel emotionally involved.※teamLabBall patent pending.

Synchronizing and Transforming Space - teamLabBall

This is an attempt to turn the entire space into a three dimensional projection object in which the spheres float freely. The lights move in three directions around the space, whilst the light of each sphere moves physically with the sphere itself. The music changes depending on the sphere's location in space as well as other factors.CONCEPT Spatial ObjectsThe digital domain allows individual and independent elements of an artwork to connect and behave as a group. Elements are able to move freely within the group and change position. When the elements are connected within a spatial network, they form a unified artwork—a Spatial Object that can be physically entered into by the viewer.

입체적으로 가득 차 있는 꽃들의 덩어리이며 동시에 정원이다.공간은 꽃들로 가득하지만, 사람이 있는 곳은 꽃이 올라가 공간이 생기며 꽃으로 가득한 공간 속을 자유롭게 거닐 수 있다. 작품 속에서 타인과 만나면 각자의 공간들이 연결되어 하나가 된다. 선(禅)에서의 정원은 산속의 대자연과 일체화하기 위해 수행하던 선종의 승려들이 단체로 수행하기 위해 탄생한 장소로 알려져 있다. 선종의 공부안독 중에 ‘남전일주화(南泉一株花)’라는 것이 있다. 승조(僧肇)의 <조론(肇論)>에 나오는 유명한 구절인 ‘천지와 나와 하나의 뿌리요, 만물은 나와 한 몸이다’를 어떤 이가, “참으로 훌륭한 말이지 않습니까.” 하고 남전화상에게 물었다. 이에 남전화상은 “요즘 사람들은 이 꽃 한 송이를 마치 꿈을 꾸는 것과 같이 보고 있는듯합니다.”라고 답했다고 한다.본 작품은 사람들이 꽃들 속에 파묻혀 정원과 하나가 되는 곳이다. 사람이 꽃을 계속하여 바라보면, 꽃 또한 사람을 보기 시작한다. 그 순간, 사람은 꽃과 하나가 되고 비로소 처음으로 꽃을 바라보게 되는 것은 아닐까. 본 작품의 꽃들은 난초과이다. 많은 난초과 식물은 흙이 없는 곳에서 살며 공기 중의 수분을 흡수한다. 본 작품의 꽃들은 공중에서 살아가며 하루하루 성장해 꽃망울을 맺고 피어난다. 공중에 자라나 있다고도 말할 수 있다. 다양한 식물의 종류 중에서도 꽃이 피는 식물은 가장 마지막에 나타났다. 그럼에도 육상 식물 25만 종 가운데 꽃이 피는 식물이 22만 종 이상을 차지한다. 진화는 다양성을 선택하며 꽃들은 다양성을 만들어내기 위해 태어났다고도 할 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 그 다양성을 가장 향유한 것이 난이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 땅 위에 사는 모든 식물의 종류 중 약 10%는 난초과 식물이라고 알려져 있다. 난의 대부분은 다른 식물로 가득한 토양이 아닌, 다른 식물이 없는 바위나 나무의 위와 같이 흙이 없는 곳에서 살아갈 수 있도록 최적화하였다. 흙이 없는 곳, 즉 지금까지의 식물에게는 터무니없이 열악한 환경 때문에 경쟁이 없는 세계에 최적화된 난초는 진화 단계의 맨 마지막에 출현한 것으로 추정되며, 지금도 계속 다양화되고 있다. 진화란 무엇을 선택했는지 생각하게 한다.또, 난은 화분 매개 곤충과의 공진화(共進化)의 예로 알려져 있으며, 매개 곤충이 활동하는 시간에 맞춰 향기가 강해진다. 이로 인해 작품 공간의 향기도 아침, 낮, 저녁, 밤 시간대에 따라 변화한다. 본 작품의 난은 야행성 곤충을 매개 곤충으로 하는 난이 많아, 밤에 공간을 가득 채우는 난의 향기가 압도적이다.

Light Community consists of hundreds of autonomous vehicles that move around a track continually, replenishing their energy while changing their running speeds in response to the light vehicles around them.The vehicles glow as though breathing slowly.When people approach, the vehicles shine strongly and emit a sound tone which resonates out to the nearby vehicles, the light and sound travels out continuously in response to the person’s presence. Perhaps people will become more aware of the existence of others in the same space.

Weightless Forest of Resonating Life - Flattening 3 Colors and 9 Blurred Colors

The space is filled with ovoids of light. People move through the ovoids and enter the space.People recognize the multi-dimensionality of the space when the group of ovoids shine with various blurred colors, but the space feels flat when the ovoids are monochromatic. As the space changes between three dimensions and two dimensions, the whole body is immersed in both a three dimensional space and a flat plane. When people strike the ovoids of light, it causes the color of the ovoid to change, and a tone specific to that color resonates out. The surrounding ovoids will respond, and the same color and tone will resonate radially throughout the space.Each ovoid moves freely, but no matter where it is, the behavior of light is maintained across the entirety of the space. Therefore, the light behaves as a group and can be thought of as one three-dimensional existence. The light resonates out spherically across the space from the impacted ovoid. While recognizing the light’s three dimensional existence, people push through the ovoids to enter into that existence.Since the ovoid colors are produced by light, it is possible to create 9 blurred colors (light in water, sunlight on water plants, morning glow, morning sky, sky at twilight, peach, plum, iris, and spring maple), as well as 3 colors that flatten the space (blue, red, and green), resulting in a total of twelve colors.
