伊藤若冲に"出会った"のは、正確には覚えていないが、2000年か2001年頃、ちょうど少年ジャンプで「ワンピース」の連載が始まった頃だ。「ドラゴンボール」の連載が終わり悲しんでいたが、「ワンピース」の連載開始で、自分には作者の尾田栄一郎さんが「ドラゴンボール」の鳥山明さんの正当な後継者のように思われ、嬉しく思った。（Excerpt from the text）
